I'm a writer, editor, and web site producer who took a year-long sabbatical to travel the world in the company of my lovely wife Eileen. The full story of that journey, including why we did it, is described on this blog.

Before we took off on this trip I worked in a variety of jobs, most recently as a consultant for Newser.

Earlier in my career I was a founder of HotWired, the first editor-in-chief/executive producer of Wired News, and a staff writer for Wired magazine. I'm a co-author with Michael Wolff and Peter Rutten of two books: Net Guide (Random House, 1994) and Where We Stand (Bantam, 1992).
